About us

The Oxford University Press Group Pension Scheme was introduced on 1 April 1978, having been established under irrevocable trusts on 20 February that year. The Group Pension Scheme, which is an open Final Salary Scheme, replaced the former Publishing and Printing Division Pension Schemes, and the assets relating to all the members of former schemes who joined the new Scheme, and to early leavers with preserved benefits, were transferred to it.

The Definitive Deed and Rules by which the Scheme is governed were executed on 12 August 1982 together with a Supplemental Definitive Deed and Rules executed on 25 February 1992, and on 28 September 2005. The Scheme is registered under Part 4 of the Finance Act 2004 with effect from 6 April 2006.

The Scheme’s Trust Deed and Rules may be inspected at the Pensions Manager’s Office, Oxford University Press, Great Clarendon Street, Oxford, on request.

The members of the Scheme are contracted out of the State Second Pension (formerly SERPS). The Scheme’s original contracting-out certificate of 8 May 1978 was replaced by the Contributions Agency on 9 February 1998.
