Change of circumstance

Moving House

It is important to keep the Pensions Department up-to-date with your current contact details.

If you move house you will need to update us with your new address details.  You can either send us an email at pensions@oup.com from your internal OUP email, or you can write to us.

Marriage/Civil Partnership

If you have recently got married, or have entered into a registered civil partnership, then you will need to notify the Pensions Department.

We will need to see the original of your marriage/civil partnership certificate and your spouse/civil partner's passport or birth certificate.  Please bring these documents to the Pensions Office (E300) to be copied.  If you are employed at the Corby site, please take your documents to the Corby HR Office to be copied.

Changing Working Hours

If you change your working hours your pension contribution will be adjusted accordingly.

If your hours change part way through a month, the change will be deemed to have happened on the first day of the following month.

A full time salary is always used when calculating pension benefits.  Therefore, if you work part time hours we will use a full time equivalent salary to calculate your benefits and pro rata your Pensionable Service.

Maternity Leave

Your membership of the Group Pension Scheme will continue during your statutory maternity leave and any further period of paid maternity absence. Your contributions will continue for as long as you are receiving maternity pay, and while you are receiving statutory maternity pay only, your contributions will be pro rata’d.

At the end of your statutory maternity leave and any further period of paid maternity absence, you will not be treated as still in Pensionable Service. For unpaid leave starting on or after 1 May 2010 you may no longer choose to repay contributions.  All unpaid leave will be treated as non-pensionable. Please contact the Pensions Department for further details.

Similar rights apply in relation to paternity leave, and adoption leave. Please contact the Pensions Department for further details.

You will remain covered for the death-in-service benefits.

Unpaid Leave

During any periods of unpaid leave from the Press you will not be treated as still in Pensionable Service.  For unpaid leave starting on or after 1 May 2010 you may no longer choose to repay contributions. All unpaid leave will be treated as non-pensionable. Please contact the Pensions Department for further details.

You will remain covered for the death-in-service benefits.

Divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership

In the event of a divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership please remember to notify the Pensions Department of your change of status.

You will need to think about how your pension rights will be treated in any divorce or dissolution settlement, although they may or may not ultimately be divided.  If your solicitor instructs you to request a Cash Equivalent Transfer Value (CETV) please ensure that it is needed at the current time.  The first CETV will be free of charge but any subsequent CETVs may be charged for.

The Trustees must comply with any order made by a Court following a divorce or dissolution of a civil partnership.
